About The Event
FREE Talk & Q&A with Anya Bergman
Sunday April 23rd from 5pm-6pm (UK Time)
Live Online via Zoom.
Join me, Petra Coveney, for the first MY Bookclub event where I'll be in conversation with Anya Bergman the author of the international bestselling book 'The Witches of Vardø.'
The witch trials of Vardø were held in Vardø in Finnmark in Northern Norway in the winter of 1662–1663 and were one of the biggest in Scandinavia. Thirty women were put on trial, accused of sorcery and making pacts with the Devil. But they were just part of a pan-European genodice of approximately 60,000 women killed for being 'witches.'
Who were the real witches of Vardø? Why were so many women killed across Europe, and what is the link to women in menopause?
Join me in conversation with Anya Bergman - author of 'The Witches of Vardø' - and ask your questions about her latest Bestselling novel that focusses on a group of women's fight for survival in a time of madness.
We will be debunking some witch myths, exploring how she researched and created her characters, what drew her to visit this remote island - and what is Anya's true identity...?
Have you read her book yet?
It is an incredibly moving and powerful page-turner - I thoroughly recommend it.
