My name is Petra Coveney – the creator of Menopause Yoga™️ (2013), the world's 1st professionally accredited yoga and wellbeing programme supporting people through their menopause - and beyond.

The MY programme unites western medical science with eastern wellbeing to support your mind, body and emotions.

 

MY combines specially modified yoga poses, breathing techniques and mindful meditation practices alongside evidence-based medical health, nutrition, natural remedies and wellbeing guidance.

MY is not a magic pill and does not claim to 'cure' medical conditions or 'rebalance' your hormones oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone that fluctuate and decline in the menopause. But yoga is scientifically proven to reduce stress and inflammation, which exacerbates many menopause symptoms such as anxiety, hot flushes, joint and muscle pain. 

Yoga may also help with sleep, digestion, fatigue, generals mental health and may help prevent falls and fractures by developing posture, balance (proprioception), inner sensory awareness (interception) and muscle tone.

 

Mindset matters: Petra's Menopause Women's Circles provide supportive spaces for people to share experiences. And she  reframes menopause as a Second Spring - a positive opportunity to improve health and wellbeing. This positive mindset encourages you to embrace this natural stage of life and look forward to the future.

I founded the Menopause Yoga teacher Training course in 2019 at the Newson Health Menopause & Wellbeing Centre, UK, and have trained over 700 teachers worldwide. I run monthly workshops both online and in person, as well as one-day Menopause Awareness courses and classes, and the 5-day TT course which is accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga, Yoga Australia and Yoga Alliance Professionals. In 2021, my first book was published by Singing Dragon Books titled 'Menopause Yoga - A Holistic Guide to Supporting Women on Their Menopause Journey.'

The book includes menopause expert articles on nutrition, herbal remedies, vitamin supplements and advice on journaling and self-care.
