Menopause Awareness Month

Join the #MenopausePassItOn campaign for change

October is the International Menopause Awareness Month, making it an opportunity to play your part in helping to change the lives of others - simply by talking about it.

When I first founded Menopause Yoga 10 years ago, it was still a taboo word that not even my female friends felt comfortable talking about. When I started my peri-menopause, I hadn't even heard of the word! This made it difficult to explain how I felt to my husband, children, work colleagues. There was so little information available then. This taboo damaged my relationships, work, physical health and my sense of my self. This is why I created Menopause Yoga - so that other women wouldn't be left in the dark.

For some women, it is still a source of awkwardness or even embarrassment and for those women who go through a premature menopause or have a surgical menopause, the conversation is more complex. There are also still some cultural taboos, which means some women are still suffering in silence and unaware of some simple lifestyle changes they can make, or how to approach their doctor for help.

I hope you share my belief that Women need to be the change they want to see in the world. So I am inviting you to join me this month in making a pledge to share just

3 FACTS about the menopause with 3 FRIENDS. In this way, we can start the conversation and create a ripple of knowledge that cascades through our friendship groups.

If you are sharing posts on social media, please add the hashtags:

If you tag me on Instagram @menopause_yoga and on Facebook @menopauseyoga, I will like and share your posts so that more women see them.

Thank you for taking the time to support other women and be part of the change.

with gratitude,

Petra xxx
