Is HRT safe?

The recent Lancet article on Hormone Replacement Therapy has increased concern about the link with Breast Cancer - but just how high is the risk?

You may have read some of the newspaper headlines about this 'new' research which concludes that there is a higher than previously thought risk of breast cancer from taking HRT.

But just how robust is this research, which gathers together previous research findings, including previously unpublished papers, rather than producing new research?

I support a woman's right to choose whether to take medicines, including oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone. But we do need factual and clear information, not sensational headlines.

To help us make sense of this new research, Dr Louise Newson and Liz Earle MBE have recorded this podcast, which is an excellent listen and will help you come to your own conclusions. There is also a printed article here.
